Date with Dance

HOSTED AND PERFORMED BY NOVA BHATTACHARYA

Date with Dance is an outreach initiative created by Nova, . In an informal setting she discusses the roots of the Bharatanatyam form in her work and presents excerpts of dances to animate the conversation.

The dances presented are:

Pushpanjali which offers a glimpse into both the abstract and narrative elemens;

Maskura and Related Fragments Remix, created in collaboration with tabla virtuoso Ed Hanley, which demonstrate Nova's unique contemporary development of the dance form.

Through this performance and conversation audiences are given the opportunity to learn about how dances from other parts of the world are becoming very much a part of Canadian dance.
