Mel Hart
Artistic Producer
Mel Hart is a dance artist, curator, and educator committed to bridging street, stage, and community. A York University BFA Honours graduate, she is the co-artistic director of SaMel Tanz, with original works presented by DanceWorks, SummerWorks, Breakin’ Convention, Toronto Fringe, Next Stage, and Dance: Made in Canada / Fait au Canada. As a member of Hip Hop Dance Crew DEUCEnDIP, she has created and performed for concerts such as WE DAY, Canada’s Walk of Fame and World Pride. Her versatility has led her to dance for international artists like Jason Derulo and Sean Paul and open for Latin artists such as Bad Bunny, Prince Royce, and Gente de Zona.
Mel’s practice centres collaboration, storytelling, and cultural dialogue. She is dedicated to creating platforms that amplify diverse voices and foster meaningful connections between artists and audiences across disciplines and communities. Her curatorial work includes projects with StreetARTToronto, Dancemakers, Dance Together Project, and Bix Events Co., expanding access to dance and reimagining where and how performance can live. In addition, Mel continues to support emerging artists through workshops, residencies, and community engagement initiatives across Canada.

WE WILL REMEMBER THIS - This saying motivates me to make the most of each moment, take nothing for granted and infuse joy in everything I do.
Through the Nova Dance opportunities I have been part of, I have an expanding level of gratitude for my mentors, dance mates, my body and dance itself for giving me memories of a lifetime <3. data-preserve-html-node="true"
