At Nova Dance we believe that art makes the world a better place, and we know that for there to be more art in the world we need more artists!

We also know how hard it can be for dancers trained in Indian classical dance styles to find role models and mentors, and we consider it a great responsibility to make ourselves available to those that identify and articulate their artistic dreams and desires.

In addition to the Deep End Weekend, we have worked with a number of classically-trained artists, assisting them to access funds from Canada Council for the Arts Grants to Dance Professionals program, the Ontario Arts Council’s Access and Career Development & Chalmers Fellowship programs, and The George Cedric Metcalf Foundation’s Performing Arts Internship program – in order to offer them paid, self-directed professional development opportunities working one on one with Artistic Director Nova Bhattacharya. Those artists include:

Malar Varatharaja
Neena Jayarajan
Atri Nundy
Nivedha Ramalingam
Meera Krishnanand Kanageswaran
